Need to round out your training? Try Yoga for Athletes at HEAT affiliate Newington Yoga Center. Thursday evening classes begin July 3.
Yoga for Athletes at Newington Yoga Center

Cross training with yoga can build strength, flexibility, and endurance. Yoga also helps athletes develop better breathing technique, improve core strength and balance.
Athletes find repetitive motion physically and mentally beneficial, but this can take a toll on muscles, joints, bones and ligaments. Some sports may strengthen one side of the body over another, eventually creating imbalances or even injury. For example, running creates strong legs but can also result in tight hips, or shin splints.
Yoga both counters imbalances and helps improve performance. We will help you strengthen and lengthen your tight and overworked muscles and expand your range of motion.

The first 14 years of the race was known as the Madison Relays with four legs, swimming, running, biking and canoeing. During 1999, the race was reformatted into a triathlon and triathlon relay. This new format resulted in a significant increase in the number of participants over the past 5 years and allowed the Jaycees to increase their support for local charities and youth sports programs.

We are looking forward to a 9th year under our new format and look forward to once again SELLING OUT. The race course along the Madison Shoreline is beautiful and the Surf Club is the perfect venue for such a race. (Please be aware that dogs are not permitted at the Surf Club, per Town regulations).
