A note from our new president…
It is an honor to serve as the President of HEAT and to work with the Board on upcoming programs and events. I served as the Vice President of HEAT for several years, prior to 2020, when Kurt Lindboom-Broberg was President, and enjoyed my experience during that time.
We have a lot in store for 2025, so keep an eye on the newsletter and the HEAT Facebook page. More to follow…
My Background:
I am into my 32nd year of competing in triathlon and view multi-sport as a year ’round lifestyle. I compete in masters swim meets, open water swim events, and do local road races, and am on the “Run 169” journey to run a race in all the towns in CT (currently at 94). My triathlon journey began in 1993 with racing on the local level in Manchester at the Thursday night Globe Hollow Park and Rec races. My focus continues to be on the “race local” and to support our local events.
About 10 years into competing, I began racing on the national level with USA Triathlon, and found myself qualifying for Team USA as an age grouper at Worlds. These races are fun, intense and competitve and I made new friends from all over the United States. I have competed on Team USA in Montreal, Budapest, London, Chicago, Australia and in Spain.Quite honestly, I prefer racing in New England. There is plenty of competition here, even in my “veteran” age group!
In my personal life. I am married to a fellow triathlete, Jonathan Reik. We are both retired, and most of our travels involve a race! I have 3 adult children who live and work in Connecticut, and 4 grandchildren who I love to spend time with, and am thankful that I can run around and keep up with for now.
