HEAT Sheet February 2018

HEAT Sheet February 2018

From the HEAT president…

Oh Hey There!!

New HEAT Members

Over the past few years, triathlon numbers have seen a dip.  Over that same time, HEAT has done the exact opposite.  We’ve GROWN!  The current member base is over 235 members and continues to grow.  That’s over an 18% increase from this time last year.  Whatever you guys are doing, keep it up!!  The more, the merrier!

Mentor Program

The ONLY problem we bump into now is that with all the new members, we need mentors to help guide them through those initial hurdles.  Consider volunteering as a one-on-one mentor to a new HEAT member!  All we ask is that you share your accumulated wisdom by answering their questions about things like where to ride to be safe, what race to check out, what the heck is Body Glide?, and so on!  This is not a coaching position but merely a helpful HEAT veteran guiding the newcomers so they can make the most out of their triathlon adventure.

Contact our VP, Jane Reik for more information.

USAT National Challenge Competition

As with every year, USAT put on a 3-month challenge in order to encourage athletes and USAT Tri Clubs to get in the winter miles.  The challenge goes December 1st through February 28th and allows you to log your swim, bike, run, elliptical, and cross country skiing (equalized by a handicap factor); all of which are added to the team total.   HEAT had 21 athletes contributing miles and wound up 29th in our division.  Below are HEATs top ten contributors!!  Congrats to everyone who logged miles this winter!

  • Phil Roucoulett
  • Chris Eckett
  • Steve Scott
  • Steve Sadler
  • Michelle Lynch
  • Jane Reik
  • Ken Clark
  • Kristen Curley
  • Scott Burrow
  • Vin Darcy

With all the new members this year, I think we can break the top 20!!  Who’s with me?!?

Team Kit Orders

It is that time of year for our annual HEAT kit orders.  HEAT only races in the best!  And Louis Garneau is arguably one of the best athletic apparel companies out there!!  Not to mention once we get the brand new HEAT logo and design on there, we are going to be smokin’.

Get it?  HEAT… Smoke…

The team order is now live in the online store and will be open for two weeks (March 2nd through 17th).  The deadline will NOT be extended.  Do not miss this opportunity!!  If you’re unsure on sizing, check the sizing chart or ask a fellow HEATster.

Once the orders close, there won’t be another chance until 2019!  So set reminders in your calendar, write it on the bathroom mirror, put post its on everything (yes, even your coworkers – they will remind you to order your kit by yelling at you when they find the post it).

Order TODAY!!

Over the past month, we have added a new benefit in the Members Only page.  Please check online for the full list of discounts and benefits.  That member fee can EASILY pay for itself many times over!
